Our Emperor Scorpions
We bought our 1st Emperor scorpion very shortly after we bought Leonard - a corn snake hatchling and our very first reptile.
I am not sure why, but we named her Mrs Chips! She captivated us instantly and during the evening whilst we'd watch TV, she'd come out of her cave and walk around her tank. We found ourselves watching her more than the TV!
We'd had her for approximately 9 months when one day we lifted her rock to check on her and we were greeted with the sight of 2 baby scorplings on her back! We had been told by the previous owner that he'd had her since she was very small and had never been around any other scorpions. So we were pleasantly suprised and shocked to find that she was giving birth. To find out more about the babies and to see photos and videos of them, please click here.
In late 2009 we re-homed another Emperor Scorpion, a male. We decided not to house them both together so we set him up with a nice new home of his own. We couldn't think of a name for him so decided to call him Mr Chips... original I know!
He is quite an active scorpion and likes to get a mist of water on him and loves to drink from his water bowl. He is also very fussy with his home and likes to dig and make his own places to hide.
